The properties that are offered need to meet basic standards, and if you are unsure help is available from each local authority to identify what might need to be done to meet the criteria and what assistance might be available.
Dependant on authority, landlords can benefit from deposits or deposit bonds, rent in advance, tenancy agreements, assistance with housing benefit forms and fast tracking the claims. In addition teams in each authority act as a point of contact throughout the tenancy.
South Gloucestershire Council has a social lettings agency, SG Homes, which offers a full property management service in addition to helping introduce landlords and tenants to each other.
