Energy Efficiency

Retrofitting Your Property

Retrofitting is the process of making improvements to the energy efficiency of an existing home.  Despite the technological advances that have been made to new buildings, by renovating an existing property correctly, it’s possible for a developer to make their property far more efficient.

Green Deal

In order to help meet targets for efficient housing, the government have released a loan scheme known as the “Green Deal”.   This was created to help any developers or home owners make improvements to the carbon footprint of their property.  It’s a loan that can help you to develop certain money saving areas of your property, such as:

  • insulation - eg solid wall, cavity wall or loft insulation
  • heating
  • draught-proofing
  • double glazing
  • renewable energy generation - eg solar panels or heat pumps

For more information, including how to apply and whether your property is likely to qualify, please head to the government's official information page
